Job Title: Litigation Secretary / Paralegal
Department: Personal Injury / Litigation

SUMMARY
PLAINTIFF PERSONAL INJURY OR WORKERS’ COMPENSATION LEGAL SECRETARY AND/OR PARALEGAL TO HANDLE BUSY CASELOAD FOR HOLLYWOOD / FT. LAUDERDALE OFFICE.

PIP EXPERIENCE HELPFUL.

This plaintiff personal injury legal secretary and/or paralegal must have 3+ years experience (Personal Injury, PIP Litigation, Pre-Litigation, Workers’ Compensation Secretary) and must be able to handle matters from pre-suit to trial. Legal secretary must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to type 50- 60 wpm, and helpful if you have working knowledge of Client Profiles or a similar case management system. This legal secretary must be eager to work with very busy attorneys, be self-motivated, and have a great attitude.

Assists and relieves lawyers and other legal personnel of administrative and clerical work by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Preparation of pleadings including but not limited to summons, complaints, motions, and subpoenas, notices, hearings, civil action summons, interrogatories, requests for admissions, requests for productions from the draft or dictated text.

  • Coordinates meetings, hearings, organizes calendars, schedules depositions.
  • Performs other clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, composing and typing routine correspondence, and reading and routing incoming mail.
  • Organize and maintain litigation files in Client Profiles as well as our hard file.
  • Takes calls from clients, attorneys, adjusters, J.A.’s, opposing counsel, etc...
  • Excellent secretarial and clerical skills (telephone, typing & computer)

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three years minimum experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. Bi-Lingual (Spanish) is preferred, however not required. Organized, self-motivated, with ability to work independently with a great attitude. Experience handling files, including

  • Preparing letters and documents
  • Requesting Medical Records and Bills
  • Daily interaction with clients
  • Dealing with Insurance Companies
  • Open, Maintain, Update and Close Client Files  

Good communication and customer service skills (must be professional and courteous).
