Education & Legal Experience
Prior to attending the University of South Florida, Jeffrey Bennett Cohen
graduated Hollywood Hills High School. Attorney Cohen received his Bachelor
of Science degree in Criminology in 1993 and soon pursued his Masters
of Science degree in Alternative Dispute Resolution from Nova Southeastern
University in 1995. Following that, he moved to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
to attend Widener University School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor.
During his time at Widener University School of Law, Attorney Cohen served
as President of the Trial Advocacy Honor Society, was proficient in many
national trial competitions, and was even awarded Most Outstanding Litigator.
During his law studies, Attorney Cohen worked for the Harrisburg Civil
Law Clinic as well as the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control
After graduating law school, he then worked as an Assistant State Attorney
and Supervisor for the State Attorney's Office, 17
th Judicial Circuit, Broward County. During this time, he was able to gain
extensive legal experience, insight, and valuable knowledgeable. He also
improved his legal skills, handling over 500 trials during his 7 years
of service there.
Following his time at the State Attorney's Office, Attorney Cohen pursued
a career as a criminal defense lawyer, providing crucial representation
to the criminally accused. He has handled everything from misdemeanors
to major felony offenses, many of which were covered by local and national
news. Attorney Cohen also worked for a local Broward County firm, where
he was able to get pre-litigation and litigation experience in both personal
injury and workers' compensation cases.
Attorney Jeffrey Bennett Cohen has been published in the Journal of Individual
Employment Rights on the topic of the Negligent Hiring Doctrine. He also
currently serves as an instructor for Widener University School of Law's
Intensive Trial Advocacy Program, allowing him to share his insight with
hopeful legal professionals.
Attorney Cohen is a member of the Florida State Bar and the Federal Bar
for the Southern District of Florida. He is a dedicated legal advocate
who represents clients in both criminal and workers' compensation cases.
