As one of the most painful and traumatizing injuries, burns can have a lasting effect. Not only do burn injuries often result in scarring or disfigurement, but they can also cause long-term discomfort and suffering.

If you were badly burned due to negligence, reach out to our Fort Lauderdale burn injury lawyer today. Our team at Rosenberg & Rosenberg, P.A. is passionate about holding negligent parties responsible.

Why You Should Work with a Burn Injury Lawyer

Burns are often the result of accidents, but in most cases, there is still an at-fault party who can be held accountable. Determining who is liable and finding evidence, however, is not always easy.

This is why you should have an experienced burn injury attorney on your side. Our firm boasts more than 50 years of experience and has collected millions of dollars for clients in the past.

Burn injuries can result in extensive damages, including:

  • Costly medical care
  • Treatment from specialized doctors or burn units
  • Long-term care or treatment
  • Emotional pain and mental distress
  • Permanent scarring or disfigurement

You cannot afford to miss out on the financial compensation you deserve. When you work with a seasoned legal advocate, you can rest easier knowing your case is in good hands.

Understanding the Severity of Burn Injuries

Most of us have sustained a burn injury at some point in our lifetime. Whether your experience was minor or severe, each burn is classified as first, second, or third-degree, depending on how deep and extreme it penetrates the skin.

First-Degree Burns

Also referred to as "superficial burns," a first-degree burn affects the skin's epidermis (outer layer). Typically a first-degree burn causes redness and pain at the burn site without blistering.

Some examples of first-degree burns include sunburns, scalds, and friction (rug) burns. First-degree burns typically take 7 to 10 days to heal without scarring.

Second-Degree Burns

Also referred to as "partial-thickness" burns, a second-degree burn affects both the skin's epidermis and dermis layer. The painful burn site will be red, blistered, and swollen.

Second-degree burns can be caused by severe sunburns or contact with boiling water or an iron. Second-degree burns can take up to three weeks to fully heal.

Third-Degree Burns

Also known as "full-thickness" burns, a third-degree burn is the most severe and causes significant damage to the skin's epidermis and dermis. The burn site may appear charred or white. Third-degree burns also cause nerve damage and loss of sensation to the area.

Third-degree burns can take over three weeks to heal, and may require skin grafts.
