At Rosenberg & Rosenberg, we believe in giving back to our community. That’s why we support Packs for Hope, a local, non-profit humanitarian organization created by high school students. The charity was founded by Jake Rosenberg, a senior at David Posnack Jewish Day School who was inspired to help the less fortunate after encountering homeless people in South Florida.
Jake noticed that homeless people often stored their belongings in shopping carts. He also noticed that students at his school sometimes threw away their backpacks at the end of the year. As a result, he decided to make a difference. Instead of letting his fellow students throw away their backpacks after school, Jake encouraged his peers to stuff them with dry, non-perishable foods and daily essentials. This year, he recruited not only his classmates, but also friends from neighboring high schools.
Together, the students filled the bags with:
- Clothing
- Toothbrushes and toothpaste
- Deodorant
- Hand sanitizer
- Soap and shampoo
- Brushes and combs
- Nail clippers
- And more
The packing event took the students 2 hours and they were able to fill over 150 backpacks.
According to Jake: “Packing the backpacks really isn’t a hard thing. It takes 10 minutes…and it can really make a large difference in these people’s lives”
Jake started the organization when he was a freshman in high school. Now, schools across Broward County participate in Packs for Hope.
After filling the bags, students will personally deliver them to homeless shelters across South Florida. The “packs of hope” will also be distributed to other needy individuals in our community.

Jake Rosenberg is the son of Attorney Paul S. Rosenberg, one of our own attorneys at Rosenberg & Rosenberg, P.A. Paul is proud of his son and believes the activity will have a lasting impact on the students, promoting a sense of empathy and community awareness as they head into college.
